Stanislaw Ulam (1909–1984)
Created the Monte Carlo method of computation. The name comes from the need during WWII for secrecy. John von Neumann then made the ENIAC do Monte Carlo calculations.
Also worked with Edward Teller, and in 1951 they came up with the Teller-Ulam design, a basis for thermonuclear weapons.
